I was out walking at 7am this morning and walked by a home that had lots of roses climbing over the fence, the aroma was lovely. Immediately after walking past my memories of My Aunt Sally's cottage garden came to my mind.
When my older sister and I were very young our Aunt lived in a small village in Lancashire, we lived a few miles away in a town on a street of row houses with no garden area.
In the summer we would often take the bus to visit her and would enjoy the sights and smells of the English Countryside. She had lots of Roses in many colors and varieties and we got
to help pick and arrange them in vase's in her house. I loved both of my Mothers' sisters they were very kind and good to us. Sally was a great cook and would treat us very special when we were visiting. She also had a very fine soprano voice and would perform publicly.
A few years before her death Sally came to visit me here in Utah with my Mother. She had never been on a plane before or out of England. We had such a good time and so did she. I remember you Sally and not just the roses.
