It's all in the Genes...
We were waiting for our Grandson Collin to get home from Kindergarten at Wasatch Elementary School.
We remarked on the fact that Grandpa attended that very same school when he was 5 years old also. We said that Collin did resemble his Grandpa in looks.
So I have done a little checking and comparing and here are the results..
Grandpa Paul Christmas of 1953 Age 5.
I would be interested to know what others think about the likeness.

Presents Galore...
May the 3rd was Ethan's 3rd Birthday. He gets cuter by the second. As I was walking up to their apartment building he was playing out on the square and when he saw me he came running with outstretched arms and a big smile. It certainly made my day. He was so happy to have a Birthday.
I bought him a toy and the shorts and shirt outfit. The toy he liked. When he opened the clothes he was not too interested, maybe later?

Collin "the Builder"
A couple of weeks ago we were visiting my daughter and her family in Provo. They live in married student housing so don't have a lot of room. Collin likes to keep all of his toys organized (with a little encouragement from his Mother).
I love how straight and tall he stands since his surgery. He is a very happy boy.

Catch Up...
Yesterday was fun! I got to take care of my lovely Grandsons for a few hours. Took a couple of not very good Pictures. Almost impossible to get a smile out of Ethan when you ask him, which is strange because he smiles all the time.
As you see Utah weather still a little gloomy.
The Pictures below are of Collin being brave a couple of weeks ago when he had his first adjustment done at the hospital. This is the same day as his surgery.
Painting a Valentine for his Mom. the hospital playroom is a great place. Little brother is in the background playing with his Dad.

Thomas the Tank Engine..
Short Post on our day adventure with Thomas the Tank Engine. The Saturday before Christmas Thomas was pulled out of storage and we had a very fun day putting him together and trying out the new Steam Shed addition. The boy's had so much fun working the Rock Quarry and the Steam Shed and the Farm which was also a new addition.
Collin was not feeling well as his post surgery Staph infection was coming back so he was happy to sit on pillows and operate the new pieces.
The fun lasted all day and made Christmas seem a little closer for the boy's.

Collin And Ethan
With their new friends outside their apartment at BYU.
Just a few of the latest Pictures of my Grandsons having fun. Thier Grandfather found these little battery operated cars at yard sales this summer. They have been enjoying them a lot. The picture by the flowers was taken on the Manti Utah Temple Grounds on the 24th of July when we were in Manti for a Simmons Family Reunion. When Collin first set eyes on the Manti Temple he thought it looked like a Castle. I will have to add more Pictures from that day.

Miracles Really Do Happen

The last two weeks have been hectic. My Grandson Collin had major surgery. A Veptr implant to correct the scoliosis on his Spine.
It was such a worry for all of us. Glad to report all went extremely well. He was such a brave boy. I never heard him cry once during the four day recovery he was in the hospital.
His Daddy, his Grandfather and Uncle gave him the most beautiful Priesthood Blessing the night before surgery and asked our Father in Heaven to bless him to be able to withstand the pain and to to be cooperative and obedient to those who would care for him.
All of that and more came true. He was a sad little boy for the first three days, not his usual happy go lucky self, but handled himself so well.
The surgery is a Miracle, his back is as straight as can be and Collin is 2 inches taller. He has to learn to walk again and is already taking his first steps. We are all so proud of him and grateful for the skill of his doctor and the medical science that has made this possible for him. He was truly blessed.
Tomorrow my daughter and family are going to California for a week to visit his other Grandparents so I really get a break. What on earth am I going to do with myself?

They Arrived...

Ethan 3 Jun 2009

Collin 3 June 2009
We are so happy to have Our Grandchildren back home. (their parents too) Amazing how much they have changed and grown. We are looking forward to making lot's of memories this Summer. These Pics were taken right before bedtime. Collin was having a little allergy around the eyes to Matt's Dogs.
Ever since they arrived the weather has been very strange, cool and rainy. Not at all like it usually is this time of year.
