Becoming a "Techie"...

I wasn't able to attend the 3 day Conference at the Salt Palace in person...

But through the miracle of technology I was able to watch some streaming live presentations on my laptop from the comfort of my own home.  So exiting to see what the future holds for Family History.

I can't pretend that I completely understood it all, but at least I now have a better understanding
of what "The Cloud" is...

I found myself applauding along with those in attendance as I watched the CEO of ancestry.com talk about what is in store for it's one point five million members...

We have come a long way from this...

A little before my time...

I actually owned and used one of these...

This I love!

See You in "The Cloud"!

Slow Computer...

I love my Laptop but my Desktop Computer is getting a little old so I usually avoid working on it. Really only used when I needed something stored on there or I needed to print.  A week ago I splurged on a new Wireless Printer and discovered my Disk Drive was no longer reading, not only that it locked up and would not give me back the new installation disk for the printer. A trip to the Computer Store was my undoing,  Yes, I fell for the charm of the salesman and the lovely looking new Desktops with their many more gigabytes.  It would have cost a lot to fix the old computer. Have to wait a few days for them to transfer everything over and it will be mine.

Love the new Printer, now if I could get my hands on a couple of those cute Disney birds to fly my printed paper in to me  life would be great!

I'm back...

It feels strange, when I was gone it seems like I would have all kinds of ideas for future Posts, I should have written them down because right now I am suffering "brain freeze".

A couple of reasons for that is maybe because I have been getting immersed in learning some new technology.  Reason # 1, a new Cell Phone that still does more things than I can remember.

Reason #2

A Barnes & Noble Color Nook.

A present to myself for all the extra hours of work at school.
After administering tests to close to 2000 students
relaxing with a good book sounded fun to me or wasting a few minutes on ...

Never too old to learn something new, after seeing this in the news this past week it
seems I am in good company.

It was reported the Queen was so impressed with the I Pad after seeing her grandsons with them on Mother's Day she had to have one for herself.

I am still having trouble passing off level 5 on Angry Birds, my grand son promised me he will give me some tips next time he visits.

New Laptop = Me Happy!

Comp 5

The long annoying task of deciding which laptop to research and purchase is over.  I am now the proud owner of an Asus.

Comp 3 So far so good.  The above site is where I spend quite a bit of my time (ancestry.com).   A good place to be on a cold and dreary day like today.   Well, it makes me happy!

Yes I Did It

I walked in to Wal Mart and I saw a "Red" Zune waiting for me. The last one in the Store. I brought it home and had no idea how to get the music on to it. Thankfully my 17 year old neighbor Cody came to my rescue. It is easy when you know how, right? I spent the weekend downloading all of my CD's on to it. I can listen to Neil Diamond now without bothering anyone else. Next step Videos. The pictures went on lickity split, these little devises are amazing. I just love it.

Quite a Dilemma

For the past couple of weeks I have been contemplating which MP3 player to buy. Today I am going to take the plunge and just do it. I can always take it back to Wal Mart if I have to. After much thought I think I have decided on the new Zune. I know every one I know has an IPOD. I just fell in love with the large screen on the Zune. I want mine to store photo's and video's as well as music. So I loved the bigger screen on the Zune. I know the ability to store 30,000 songs is wasted on me, don't think I will live long enough to hear that many. That seems ridiculous to be able to store that many. Anyway off I go any input from readers would be appreciated. Don't be surprised if I don't come back with anything!!
On a more sober note. I did attend the funeral of my friends Daughter yesterday. I think at least 1000 people showed up, the Stake Center was full. After going to many viewing's of older people it was very different to see a 33 year old beautiful young women. She was truly very lovely. Her parents were holding up very well considering the circumstances of her death. They are such great people. The service was good with fine talks and wonderful music. As I get older I find funerals to be quite a spiritual experience they certainly give you much to contemplate about.
My trying to decide on an MP3 Player seems so trivial.
