Mercer County Virginia
This interesting photograph I found this past week as I was researching the family of my cousins wife ...
Charles Forsyth Henry Begg
1917-1982
Charles was the only son of my Great Uncle Henry James Hamilton Begg and Margaret Bain Forsyth. Born in Savannah ,Georgia. Henry his Father was a Watchmaker and came to America from Scotland, my sister Ethel Mary was named after his daughter Ethel one of Charles sisters.
Charles had an interesting career in the Military that I should write about about another time as I want to to get back to that interesting picture I started with and tell more about Charles wife ...
Wavie Rogers
1916-2001
The only picture I have of Wavie taken with two of their children and her mother and father in law.
Wavies Family History goes way back in to the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia . She was born in Mercer County. Her mother Lula Rogers has several members on ancestry.com working on her lines. Lots of interesting reading on the Civil War and the culture and families of West Virginia in the early days of America.
Wavie's Great Grand Parents..
William Judson Keaton
1838-1864
Confederate soldier died in Ohio and buried..
Martha Jane Cook
1840-1910
The baptisms in the river picture was included on one of this families Family Trees with no indication as to whether any one of the people at the river were actual relatives.
When I had lived in Maryland for a year after arriving in America a family I met at Church took me on a little trip one Saturday in early November to the Blue Ridge Mountains in West Virginia. It was so beautiful all the fall colors and the apple stands on the sides of the roads. I wish I would have known then I had some connections to the people and history of West Virginia .
One thing I will always remember was walking across this very scary swinging bridge over the
Shenandoah River

On some of these old pictures, I just want to yell "Smile!!!!!" They look so mad. I know that was the thing back then, but I would love to see them happy.
