Well!, anyone would if they could add the poet William Wordsworth to their Family Tree.
1770-1850
One of the first major English romantic poets.
A few of my favorite quotes from him...
St Mary's Church, Ennerdale, Cumberland, England
My Williamson ancestors as far back as the records show were Christened, Married and Buried in this small church that still stands today.
The church here at Ennerdale Bridge has changed little over the last 100 years, electric lighting installation has been one of the few improvements, and the roof was repaired in 1978 after funds were raised.
The church building is simple in outline, with dark grey granite walls and a high pitched slate roof and a small pointed bell tower, when the church was re built in 1857 the builders incorporated a few features from the earlier medieval chapel, one of which was is a Norman arch over the porch doorway.
The oldest part of the churchyard around the church building has graves dating from 1741 to 1900 it was at this churchyard that William Wordsworth wrote his epic poem,"The Brothers" after he and Coleridge visited Ennerdale in 1779.
Also of note is that by the quiet lake shore of Ennerdale water is where Henry VIII proposed to Catherine Howard in 1541 and in 1973 Bill Clinton to Hilary Roddan.
Source of information from the church booklet available from inside the church.
William's relationship to me is first great grand uncle of the wife of my first cousin 3x removed.
John Sinclair Cape and Margaret Mary Atkinson born in the early 1840's.
