Long Hot Summer...

So many many days of Temps over 100 degrees and so many fires burning in Utah and surrounding States that many of our morning Sunrise's looked like this...

I did not plan on taking a break from blogging and I had no shortage of material to blog about and my escape in to Family History was an everyday thing, so what is my excuse for not doing it? I have no idea!

Trying to catch up would be futile so will try and come up with a couple of things to get my brain in gear again...

Early in the Summer we were back in Manti to the funeral of one of my husbands Uncle's..

Stanley Lewis Simmons
1931-2012

Unlike my Father in Law (his brother) Stan had spent most of his life in the small town of Manti.  He and another brother Don followed in their father's footsteps and ran the Simmons Hardware Store for many years.

He is survived by his wife Krista and his four sons and their families.  He had been ill for quite a long time and so family and many friends and neighbors gathered together together to remember him and celebrate his life and accomplishments. Although I only knew him from Family Reunions and the occasional visit my memories of him are of a cheerful smiling and happy person who was always ready to help and serve others.

Bookends..
It wasn't intentional but I got my husband on the far right and his brother
Daniel on the far left. and yes it was very hot.

Of course I couldn't leave without a picture of my husband grandparent's grave...

Manti Tabernacle where the Service was held.

A lovely old building built in 1879.

Welcome back - you've been missed. So sorry to hear about the loss in your family. Thanks for the update. Manti is a beautiful, little town.
