Lennox Clan...

Lennox Tartan

As a young girl in school I learned to sing this famous song by Robbie Burns not realizing at the time my
 4th great grandparents

James Lennox (1746-1826) and Elizabeth Howatson (1748-1832)

raised 13 children in New Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland close to the banks of this beautiful river.

The name Lennox appeared on my Pedigree Chart when their daughter Margaret Lennox 1771-1855 (my third great grandmother) married Hugh Begg in 1799.  They moved to Muirkirk,Ayrshire,Scotland.

Recently I came across research shared by one of the three dozen or so ancestry.com members also claiming this line on their Pedigree's.  Margaret Lennox had a younger brother Alexander born in 1795 (child #13).   He was married twice and had five children with each of his wives.  His first wife Elizabeth Storey Baird and Alexander had a daughter...

 Jane Ann Lennox 1841-1929

Jane Ann married William James Crammond 1837-1914
in the quaint town of Maybole, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1867.

Not sure how they met as William was born in London and she was still in Scotland, they were not long in the area as their first child was born in Glasgow, their second child in Renfrewshire the next four children were born in England and the last child  Maud Mary Crammond was born in York, Ontario, Canada.

The paper trail was fun to follow and it was lovely to find pictures of a Lennox descendent.

Copyright forbids me showing the Lennox clan Motto.

This is the Maybole Parish Church where they were married...
