Martin Williamson 1883 - 1915 ...

Until last weekend I knew so little about this Great Uncle of mine.

He was one of the nine million soldiers who lost their lives in World War One.

Second eldest son of John Williamson and Caroline Jane Edwards and older brother of my Grand Mother Eliza Mary Williamson.

From the small town of Harrington, Cumberland, England.

War Records show he died in Flanders,France on the 16th of April 1915 along with others from the 2nd Battalion Border Regiment.

Like so many other young men who gave their lives in that awful war he had no wife and children to leave behind.

I am thankful for a new 2nd cousin in England who had this picture of him and two other Brothers to share with me.

So happy to be able to pause and remember Martin to see his face and honor his sacrifice.
