Mourning Doves

Every morning I awake to the sound of these cute birds cooing on my roof. I really enjoy the sound. They seem to be unafraid of people, they spend a lot of time walking around on the ground. Interesting that they mate for life and breed six times a year. They come back to my yard every year. I know spring has arrived when I see and hear them.

All my life (and you know that's a long time) I thought they were M-O-R-N-I-N-G doves I had no idea they were Mourning doves. I guess because you start hearing them at about 5:00 A.M. Isn't that funny Live and learn.
