My Christmas Tree Dilemma...

Tree in Snow

Yes, it is that time of year and I do love Christmas Trees.  So, what is my problem?   A couple of years ago my husband was cleaning  the outside storage shed and thought my 2 year old fully lighted tree took up too much space and decided to donate it to Deseret Industries.   Although I did not grudge some poor person finding a great bargain I was not happy to find myself tree less.

For years our family tradition was to get out right after Thanksgiving to search for the perfect live tree.  Hours of trudging the lots in freezing cold snow rejecting many before the final choice.  Strapping it on the car driving home sawing the bottom off and setting it in water for the night.   Honestly, a lot of work. The kids loved it and it smelled so good

After the children were grown and married I decided no more of that for me I was going to save the life of a tree and go artificial and pre lit, and buy a can of pine spray and light a candle.    So mindful of cost I shopped the after Christmas sales and found a lovely ceiling high pre lit tree with hundreds of lights .  Well you already know the fate of that one.   Last year I did not have a tree, except for a tiny desktop version with miniature ornaments.  Quite pathetic!    But my daughter and grandchildren were living in Holland and I honestly did not see making the effort.

deco mini Mine was only slightly better decorated than this. Very sad!

This year when I pulled it out of storage it looked even worse so  I visited  Wal-Mart to buy a new one.

Very Grand TreeThe prices were ridiculously inexpensive so I choose a pre lit Colorado Pine.    I was so very pleased with it after I decorated it.

If only it were so, I can only dream.. I know it is all about coordinating colors and themes nowadays  but I

Xmas Tree had to settle for this, but I am happy with it.    First time I have assembled and decorated all by myself.   I feel it quite an accomplishment.  I still need to put the angel on top.     I know my grandsons will love it.

Dear Father Christmas I would  love to get a laptop under my tree!
